A blog normally consist of a main (home or index) page which will display the latest posts, the number of posts displayed which you can set to what ever you want. Refer to setting number of posts to be displayed in main page. In addition to this, you can set the blog to have individual post pages (permalinks). In my honest opinion, you should enable individual post pages as it is one useful feature of blogs. When this is enabled, each post will have its own page plus its own URL. Any visitor to the main page can get to the individual post page of that post by clicking on the post title or by clicking on the timestamp . Most will not even know that that is a permalink on which you can click to get to that individual post page, but you can do some modification to the template to make it display like so that there is a better chance that a visitor will know what that is. If you want to do that, refer to Make permalink more prominent.
Some visitors (or maybe even you yourself) may want to link to a particular post, and you want the URL of that individual post page. There are many ways to do that. One is to right-click on the timestamp and select "Copy link location" (this is for FireFox. For Internet Explorer, it is "copy shortcut"):
.
This will copy the URL into clipboard and you can paste that into wherever you like, for example when making a hyperlink to the post, etc. You can also click on the timestamp and be taken to the individual post page and copy the URL direct from the address bar at the top of the browser.
Then, to make a clickable link (hyperlink) you got to type the HTML for a hyperlink like the example below:
<a href="URL of individual post page">Title of post</a>

Hi there. I'm having difficulty with permalinks and thought you might be able to help. Each of my posts has a permalink; however, when I click on these permalinks (clearly unique by the URL) they all go to a different unique page that happens to have multiple posts on it. Any idea why this might be happening? How do you specify that the main page has (Top 5) but the sub-pages (permalinks) only have that one post?
Hi Creative Studios,
I checked your profile. You have 4 blogs. The first one seem to have only 1 post, so no point checking the permalink. The second blog has more posts. I clicked a permalink (timestamp) in one of the post in the main page, and it took me to the individual post page (permalink) with only 1 post on the page. That is how permalinks are supposed to work, so I don't know which of your blog is having the problem you mentioned.
If you really have such problem, perhaps it is because of the template you are using. Perhaps you can try to change the template and see if it make any difference, but first backup your current template PLUS the Page Elements. There are now lots of New Blogger templates to chose from including:

Blogger Tips and Tricks
Hi Peter,
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. I love your Googley photo! ;-)
Anyhow, you are correct that the page appears to be working as expected now. After much poking around, I discovered that I had incorrectly typed a path to my ftp server, which was creating malformed links in this form:
server.com/directory/post.html/post.html.
Of course, this makes no sense! :-) I fixed up the structure and all the perma-links are working correctly. Thanks again for hosting a useful blog with responsive folks! ;-)
Best wishes,
Mike
I have another question, let's say youru post is really long. and you want to post only half of your blog, then have a link at the bottom that says: "continue to read the rest..." or something like that. then the viewer can click and see the FULL post?
Hi Q,
You can find instructions to do that at Expandable post summary for New Blogger

thanks for your response, now I have another question.. lol.
so lets say you have the click to continue read half of your blog, and then when viewers click, I want the post to redirect to exactly where they left off at the half part. But for mine, it just reloads/redirect... and takes the viewer to the beginning of the post again, and they have to scroll all the way down to see the rest.
how do I make it to click and redirect or expand to where they left off?
Hi Q,
I am afraid I know no way of doing that. If I ever find out how to do it, I will make a post in any of my blogs including this one:

Blogger for Dummies
Testing Blogger Beta (now New Blogger)
or in my latest blog
Tips and tricks for Google Blogger
which I will eventually use for Custom domain for New Blogger. This will likely eventually be my main blog for Blogger.

because when I click the continue reading on some people's blogs, I notice after it redirect me, that up at the URL bar it has this #more along with the entire URL. so it was like http://URLgoeshere.html#more
Hi,
I edited a post title but this does nt automatically changes the post link.. And I want the permalinks to be same as the edited post titles. So how could I get them same?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have a question I am building a site that I am integrating blogger into. Things are going ok except for when you go to the permalink. blogger Automatically archives the single stories in folders by month and year. So when you click on the permalink none of the images for the page show up like the menu bar and all of the graphics. Is there anyway to tell blogger to place these new pages in the root folder? because if not I have to manually make image folders every month in the new pages folder. Thanks.
Hi AJ,
I am very sorry I cannot help as I have never tried integrating a blog with a website although for one of mine, a relative offered to do it for me. Anyway, I have sent out a message to see if anyone might be able to help. Sorry if I didn't ask permission first, but gave link to your profile so they can contact you via your profile if they so choose.
Perhaps a good alternative is to go to Google Blogger Help group and post your problem there as there are bloggers who may be able to help.

Hello,
Amazing blog! I'm so glad that I found you! My question: Do you have a post specifically on AdWords? I did a search on your blog but found nothing. Do I have to pay to use AdWords from Google?
Ang
For AdWord, you will have to sign up for an account and create a campaign. You will have to pay for AdWord. That is how Google gets its profits.
thanks for this!
