Previously (or now if you are still using the old classic Blogger template) to change configuration of the blog post, you will have to know CSS and HTML and you will have to edit the template. The New Blogger xml template has now made configuration of the blog post (comments, time stamp, etc.) very easy. All you have to do is to go to LAYOUT and click EDIT in the blog post section (see screen shot below):
You will get a pop-up window where you can change many things (see screen shot below):
In the example above, I have changed the format of the date, change from "comments" to "feedback", etc. I have also dragged the Posted by (and changed it to just "by") and the comments (changed to feedback) to above the content of the post (see screen shot below):

I had initially thought of transliteration but looks like it is only for Hindi (Indian language characters).
Regarding your second question, refer to Configure blog post and look at the screen shot. Near the bottom of the screen shot, you can drag and drop the position of "posted by" etc.
I'm trying to put the author of the blog entry at the top of the post. Some readers are confused and think that I have authored everything.
I see how to do it in configure blog post, and I can move the author to the top. It works great except that after I make the change the authors name is still at the bottom?

I did.
I can change the contents of things... like I changed "Posted by" to "Post by." But even though the author element moves up top, and stays there - it is still there when I come back - it won't show there.
I read something about "reseting it?"
Don't know if it may have anything to do with browser cache. Try viewing it from browser, another computer or try clearing cache and cookies?
For some reason, when I changed my layout...it added a "configure blog post" on my sidebar....as well as the one under Blog Post. How can i get the one on the sidebar deleted? I dont need my posts showing in the main body as well as the sidebar? HELP!!!
